Family Sponsorship – Reunite with Your Loved Ones in Canada
At SHADS Immigration, we believe that no family should be separated by borders. If you’re a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you may be able to sponsor your spouse, children, parents, or grandparents to become permanent residents of Canada and build a future together.

Who Can You Sponsor?
✔Spouse, common-law, or conjugal partner
✔Dependent children (including grandchildren)
✔Parents and grandparents
Siblings, cousins, aunts, and uncles do not qualify under standard sponsorship. However, in exceptional cases, they may be eligible under Humanitarian and Compassionate Grounds or as a Last Living Relative.
Sponsorship Pathways
For spousal and common law sponsorship, there are two options:
✅Inland Sponsorship – If your spouse or partner is already in Canada, they can apply for permanent residence without leaving the country.
✅Overseas Sponsorship – If your spouse or partner is living outside Canada, they can apply through the Family Class process and join you once approved.
For children, parents, and grandparents, sponsorship is only available through Family Class (Overseas) Sponsorship, as they must apply from outside Canada.
Are You Eligible to Sponsor?
To sponsor a family member, you must:
✔ Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
✔ Be at least 18 years old
✔ Prove that you can financially support them
Certain factors—such as criminal convictions or financial difficulties like bankruptcy—may prevent you from sponsoring. Receiving disability benefits does NOT disqualify you.
What Happens After Sponsorship?
Once your family member becomes a permanent resident, they can:
🔹Work and study in Canada
🔹Access healthcare benefits
🔹Live anywhere in the country
🔹Apply for Canadian citizenship after three years
